I have a document and I have undocked the search bar. When I go to close that box using the X control of the box Libreoffice hangs and I have to Force Quit it in OSX. The edits I made are not saved. Recovery works OK.
Read these guidelines and ask a good question. Pay a special attention to this. Reading this might be useful, too.

Have you tested, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe mode?
Unfortunately Writer is completely unresponsive when the cursor is cycling in it’s ‘busy’ mode. Not even the Apple item works. Neither does the LibreOffice icon in the bottom Apps bar work to bring the document on top.
Try resetting the user profile.
OK, Maybe the Title was not ideal in terms of the advice on posting an issue. But the issue is persistent for me and I am willing to investigate if requested and provide more detail. If however at this time this appears to be a one-off then I can let it go as I have a work-around of sorts: if I use the down arrow-‘close toolbar’ that works for the undocked Find toolbar and I always save now before doing that so recovery is maybe not necessary. The document is just over 155,000 words so I leave it a few minutes just in case. I will not post anymore on this issue unless requested and appreciate your effort overall. Thanks.
