I can't reset the database field in the label creation process?

I’m trying to create a page of address labels for Christmas cards from a spreadsheet (NOT a database).

The database field in the labels sub-window is permanently filled-out and I can’t search for the file that I want (which is a spreadsheet, not a database, which may not help).

How do I clear out the field to search for the correct file and can I use a spreadsheet rather than a database?

Keep it simple.

Buy full sheet label paper, not normal label sheets, i.e. full sheets of uncut sticky label paper.

Then just use anything (calc, writer, base, even draw) to generate the addresses laid out on the paper, and then print, and use simple tools like sizzlers to cut the addresses from the sheet and apply them to your cards.

If you wanted the addresses printed directly on your envelopes, … then you need a database w/ writer.

You can easily create a database from your spreadsheet and then insert the data fields to labels or business cards.

By following the online help, I started to created a database from my spreadsheet details. However, it took several attempts and LibreOffice crashed at least 5 times. I gave up, uninstalled it and bought Microsoft Office Home 2019.
