Documents composed using LibreOffice have been hijacked into Word & are now inaccessible. LibreOffice was previously working well : could it be coincidental that this has happened immediately following a Windows update…??
Try reinstalling LibreOffice.
Likely the Windows update has merely reset file associations to point to MS Office instead of LO. Change your file associations back to LO.
For each unique file type/extension (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx) that is opening with MS Office that you wish to open with LibreOffice, do the following:
- Right-click on the file
- Select
“Open with…” - Select the LO app
you wish to use to open the file
(Writer, Calc, etc). You might have to hunt for it under “More apps…” - Check the box
at the bottom “Always use this app
to open .xxx files” - Click OK
This will reset the file association. The file icons will change to reflect. You will have to do it for each unique file extension.
