How do you type an address on a #10 envelope, and then print the envelope?

I am trying to print on #10 envelope but I cannot manage it.

Please explain what steps you have taken thus far. It may also help in knowing what OS and the specific version of LO you are using.

I use Windows 10 and LibreOffice Writer 6.0.7.3. I tried to change the paper size to #10 envelope in LO Writer. I think I did that OK. However, you normally write on an envelope lengthwise (longitudinally) but I could not manage to do that. It still writes horizontally, at least on the computer screen. Things do not seem to match alright.

I do not see in any of the drop downs where I can print an envelope. Can someone please help me

@DelawareBob Your comment is too vague and probably need to be explained in a new question if this hasn’t helped. You can just create an envelope through the menu Format->Page as stated in answer. Also see this post → instructions say to create an envelope click insert then envelope – there is no envelope in the list of things i can click

Hello,

Normally I would suggest envelope printing using the Insert->Envelope method. However, there may be a bug in this regard. For that see this post → Why, after 20 or more years, can’t LibreOffice Write print envelopes?.

Your approach is probably the preferred method. I believe you only need to modify the orientation. Go to menu Format->Page and on the Page tab click on Landscape under Orientation.

Yes, that approach worked. Thanks a lot. The envelope shows on the screen horizontally (landscape orientation). However, the envelope should still be fed longitudinally into the printer (narrow side goes into the printer first). If you do all of these steps, LibreOffice prints envelopes just fine. Thanks again.

I have posted a workaround to this bug at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51132 It appears to have more to do with the printer driver, than with LibreOffice.

This is a very frustrating problem. I literally need to break out the typewriter to type an envelope or refer my client to M$O, which is embarrassing. It looks like there are too many places to change pages/envelope sizes and they don’t all correspond to the same size. Even when you choose a custom size it still goes back to a 9.5 envelope size for printing.
