What are the permissions of the target directory and those above it? Hint: use command ls -l on the parent directories in a terminal window.

The rights to my particular folder are: drwxrwxrwx 1 user user
thanks for the hint. I have also noted the libre.ods document i was trying to add contents to and save has the following rights; -rwxrwxrwx 1 user user

Strange because your directory is "open to everybody" as shown by the last rwx group. Have you specific SELinux restrictions? These are shown with command ls -lZ.

I just found that its because my windows O.S is not completely shut down and some files are open on windows from the same volume. I am dual booting ubuntu and windows. It was strange indeed. All is good now after switching to windows and shutting it down. :D. Thank you.
