I have an Acer “cloud” laptop with Win 10 and LO 5.4 loaded. Should I download 5.4 on my new tower ( Win10 64) or the new 6.1? What effect will 6.1 have on files created with 5.4?
Which version of LibreOffice you want to use, you should decide for yourself. You can find decision support on the website of “The Document Foundation”. I’ve been using LibreOffice since version 3 and now use LibreOffice, version: 6.1.4.2 (x64). The files have never changed. Prerequisite is saving (for example with Writer) in ODT format. Older LibreOffice versions can be found in the archive.

I was just a little apprehensive since I have little experience with LO at this point. I wanted to avoid problems that might occur due to my short-comings and then blaming it on LO. I’m going to give it a go this evening. A least I now know where to turn to for the almost inevitable SOS! If there is a more appropriate place for future questions, would you please advise so I can avoid taking time away from more important issues.
