Calc selection mode

Regarding: Page 19 - Chapter 5 - Getting Started with Calc

I think I'm so used to Shift and Ctrl I overlooked this feature.

There is TIP on this page about selections. I was not familiar with the Calc Selection Mode that is located on the Status Bar.

If you right-click the little I-beam in the middle of the Status Bar, the options are:

  • Standard
  • Extending
  • Adding
  • Block

Is the below correct or is there more to this feature that I'm missing?

  • Extending seems similar to Shift-Click.
  • Adding seems similar to Ctrl-Click.
  • I'm familiar with Block selections from various editors, but I couldn't seem to figure out how it is used in Calc.

Found this: Bug 122280 - Remove Block selection mode from Calc

PS: I tried to add a comment but got an Error 403 regarding referrer header. I'm using Firefox and referrer headers are on.
