Is anyone finding 6.1.4.2 very slow and crashy on Windows 10

I’m setting up a new desktop PC with Windows Pro 10 version 1809 and Libreoffice 6.1.4.2 and it is very laggy. In Calc, it often takes a second or two to move from cell to cell with the cursor. Not all the time, but often. Sometimes clicking on a cell will take more than a second for it to highlight. Writer is much the same, although not as noticeable, but sometimes the cursor just doesn’t move for a second or two when you go back to highlight text.

Also a lot of crashes, probably 2-3 times per day.

I’m moving from an older laptop with 6.0.4 which is working really well.

Any ideas of where to start looking for issues.

For now I am going to load 6.0.7 and see if that is better.

Using Version: 6.2.4.2 on a windows 10 (64) laptop with a huge largely empty hard drive and I simply cannot live with how slow Calc is and Write is not much better.
Is there a simple easy fix if not i will have to throw money at the other guys (i’d rather not!)

I would try to:

  • Re-download the latest version for Windows.
  • Re-boot
  • Install the version that you just downloaded. (32 or 64?)
  • Then try it

It my do nothing, but many times just a reinstall of the software will fix problems.

Good luck,

Jon

Jon,

I will try that. For now 6.0.7 is working well.

No problems for me: LibreOffice 6.1.4.2(x64), Windows 10 Professional on a fairly powerful computer.

I’ve been finding LO 6.x quite slow to load large documents (+500 pages) on both Win 7 (x86) and Win 10 (x64).

It seems LO 5.x is much faster to load large documents.

It this how a later version is supposed to work ?

For LibreOffice 7 on Windows 10 try:

Tools → Options → LibreOffice → View → Graphics Output

and disable “Use anti-aliasing”.

Perhaps the same will do it for LO 6.x on Win10

Long Live LibreOffice.
