how to edit an image in a pdf file

I have flatbed scanner images of 35mm film that I want to do some editing of those images.

Do you have tryed to open the PDF in Draw?

To generate PDF files is the worst proceeding if working on flatbed scanners. Try to get bitmaps in TIF format (lossless) or PNG (lossless) or even JPG (be aware of artefacts).

Editing images in PDF files regularly means to edit the PDF file, then export to rastergraphics format (see above) and then to edit the bitmap on an image manipulating program like GIMP. Save pains and produce bitmaps instead of PDFs when scanning your films.

If you have got some PDF files: Open on LibreOffice (if possible) and export the image. If not possible on LibreOffice so import in GIMP as a bitmap and proceed in editing.

Cheers

PS: There are some functions in Draw to edit images (gamma, contrast, transparency…) but they do affect the entire image and not parts of it. GIMP (or other program) is the better choice.
