Adding a column to a LibreOffice database file

I have an existing database with over 1000 entries. I now need to add a further column to the database but I cannot find any way of doing this. I have got round the immediate problem by saving the database as a spreadsheet and manipulating that - but of couse it doesn’t give me all the functionality of a database. Is there any way of modifying the database please?

Hello,

Please specify which database you are using such as HSQLDB embedded, Firebird embedded or otherwise. Also the specific LO version & your OS.

Typically, by just editing the table you can add a new field but it also depends upon the DB and how you may be setting the field.

Solved. Thanks for the Comment Ratslinger - that gave me a clue and I found that right-clicking on the Table icon and then selecting Edit got me to the Design view where I could add the new field.
