Every time I press PgDn Writer 6.2.0 starts indented numbered list. When I press PgDn again cursor returns to margin.

Just today I installed a new Type Cover (thin flexible keyboard) on my MS Surface 2 Pro (purchased in 2012; I have made consistent firmware and software upgrades . The device’s OS is Windows 10 Pro version 1809. Other problems in Writer: PgUp, End, Ctrl+End, and Home do not work; Ctrl+Home opens Styles list on right side of screen. I have reset Writer to original defaults, reported a crash, and I am using Safe Mode. I have reverted to earlier versions of LibreOffie (5.3), but these problems persist. Please note that these input problems do not occur in other apps like email, social media, and similar communications venues. I do not know how to use Calc Spreadsheet, Impress Presentation, Draw Drawing, Math Formula or Base Database. I have never used these Modules, AND I DO NOT WANT TO LEARN.

Will SOMEONE (or more than one) among the LibreOffice Community who has more knowledge and experience than I PLEASE propose some solutions?

I’m pretty sure your keyboard is issuing F-keypresses instead of the keys you (think you) are actually hitting.

By default, for example Style manager is invoked by F11 and Numbering by F12.

Thank you, but this isn’t quite what I need. My Surface type 2 keyboard does show all 12 F-press keys in the top row but F-9 is physically the same key as “Home,” F-10 is physically the same key as “End,” F-11 is physically the same key as PgUp, and F-12 is physically the same key as “PgDn.” So, yes, I am hitting F-12 for “PgDn” because it is physically the same key Before I upgraded to LibreOffice 5.6 no F-press keys were invoked by default except F1 (dim keyboard backlight) and F2 (intensify keyboard backlight). Only F-1 and F-2 work correctly, so I still need help.

I hope you realize that for the Function keys to work you need to hold down the Fn key. The symbol is without Fn key (that is why dim & intensify work). Operation of the computer not LO software.

Also, Here’s how to lock and unlock the function keys:

For Type Cover, Type Cover 2, and Type Cover for Surface Pro 3
Hold down the Fn key and press the Caps key to lock the function keys. Hold down the Fn key and press the Caps key again to unlock them.

Holy Moses! Thiis is the answer I need. No documentation with my Type Cover(s) from 2012 until I read your comment/answer an hour ago has said anything about what the “Fn” key is for. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Is there a way I can officially give you a LibO commendation?

Nothing else needed. Just glad all is OK now for you. You may want to look at this site → Surface Type Cover
