Would like to see a easy way to set new page style default

Would like to see a easy way to set new page style default. Make a single button selection to change this for default on new pages. Example is like making a permanent change to margins instead of current 0.79 on R, L, T, B. Once changed you can set as new default with a button, not just apply to current page.

Propose a new Style Management Dialog. With only selected Typeface to be choose from, selected Header style / needed style to be included. . . Don’t know if any researcher do such a research.

You can set up a page the way you want and save it as a template and make this template your default template.

Thanks for your contribution. This is an old and you might have seen lots similar questions. Now, I cannot bear it any more: a feature request / bug report have to be submit for this issue.

@jiero - do you know by any chance the bug number?

+1. I think the way to address this is as @ROSt53 indicates - via a default template. It is really not that hard.

UX issue beneath. I think the style manager is the problem, better to include page style. Customizing page style is pain, BTW. Scribus, Indesign do style editing in better way, imo, single window, which make more sense. I think will be helpful take a view on how styles work in Writer.

This answer is addressing the issue of related enhancement requests. There do not appear to be any currently open bugs that explicitly address the issue of more easily setting the properties of the Default Style page style. I sincerely doubt any such request would get off the ground, as the facility already exists (as I indicate in my comment under the answer by @ROSt52). Related page style enhancement requests appear to be:

  • fdo#37216, easier applying of page styles. Closed without being resolved.
  • fdo#41316, improved hierarchical arrangement.
  • fdo#49529, “sensible” page margin defaults. Unlikely to ever get anywhere as what is “sensible” varies from locale to locale.
