Random image placement after sorting/reloading

Hi, I have a very simple spreadsheet with 3 columns for country flag (inserted png image), country name and points, repsectively. There are 41 rows in total.

I select all three column headers and then click on data->sort. I can sort on country name or points (or both) and everything works exactly as I want with the flags also moving in accordance with the sorted rows.

The problem comes after I save the spreadsheet and open it up again, with some flags missing or overlaid on top of others in the same cell.

It’s not a game-changer as I just have to remember never to save the spreadsheet after sorting it. But it’s annoying glitch that I can’t figure out. The images are all less than 1Kb and formatted with the “fit to cell size” option.

Saving and reloading the spreadsheet without sorting works fine. Has anyone else had this problem???
