I change the position of an object but it doesn't move, reverts back to original

I have added a couple of text boxes in calc and want them to line up by the x axis. One is at 13.10 cm and I want to move the other to the same position. It is at 13.16 cm. If I change the position in the x axis box and click “OK” I cannot see a change. When I go back to check position and size it is unchanged at 13.16 cm.

I have had similar problems when I have chosen to position an object based on e.g.; the right top corner instead of the top left. I click the appropriate dot and then set the distance, only to find that while the distance remains as I set it, the selection reverts so that the distance is based on the top left corner and not the right as I have chosen.

And why are you asking the same question twice?

@anon73440385 it are the users of ask.LibreOffice who jump back and do not refresh a page in their browser.

Where do you anchor your text boxes? To Page, To Cell ? Are the text boxes of different size, can you upload an anonymized example file, did you protect position and size and last but not least, which LibreOffice version are you using an which OS?

@Hrbrgr, thanks for explanation, since I never asked a question here, there is still a mistake awaiting for me to be done

@anon73440385 It’s a pleasure.

Hi, I am the person who asked the question. Only posted question once.
Sorry for any confusion, but there are two questions that are related, but not identical:
One is the fact that resizing does not work,
The other is that trying to reposition a box does not appear to work, even though I have clicked on a different anchor spot in the box to the right of the dialogue.

Since asking, I found that the resizing and repositioning both eventually worked, after 12 attempts, even though I did nothing different.
The text boxes were the same size, I think. (But I don’t see why that should matter - I have done similar work in other programs in the past, both Word and desktop publishing, without these problems.)
I did not protect the position or size and I don’t recall specifically choosing an anchor point.
The version would have been LO 6.2.2. and Windows 10 - have since upgraded to LO 6.2.4 and Windows 10 build 1903.

I have redone the work with no problem. Still think software is the cause

By the way, I got two emails asking why I had asked the question twice.

That’s OK if you ask the question twice.

To the actual question and to your comment with the further question:

Still think software is the cause

It does not help further speculation. If an error is not producible, you can not follow him.
