Using Carriage Returns / Hard Return in Base Field

I haven’t seen anyone asking or answering this question. I would like to be able to use a carriage return in a single field in Base, allowing me to list vertically, multiple alphanumeric strings. Is that possible, and if so, how to go about allowing it?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Try the key combination Shift+Return.

ebot,

Thank you for your response. I have tried Shift+Return, Alt+Return, Ctrl+Return, and various combinations thereof, with no luck, whereas in other applications, one of those is bound to work.

Hello,

In addition to comment by @Hrbrgr, and this applies to a text box, in the controls properties on the General tab, set Text type to Multi-line. This is typically the only control you would use for your request.

FYI - this has been asked/answered a few times.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. Forgive me, but I am learning how to use to Base, after a few years of working with other components of LO. When you say Text Type, do you mean the Field Type in table design? I have looked in the General of Base’s Options?

First is the text box control. In edit mode, right click (or Ctrl + right click if joined with a label) on it & select Control.... This bring up its’ properties. On the General tab you will find the property Field type. That is the setting. Set to Multi-line.

Now in a table control and with a text column, right click the column heading and select Column.... The setting there is Multiline input. Set to Yes.

Note that this is all done in edit mode on a Form.

Ah-Ha. Thank you for your help! This has answered my question.
