When I try to start LibreOffice I get the following Java error message:

"LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Java."

I uninstalled the Java version on my PC and installed the latest version which is confirmed as installed by the Oracle website and the Java control panel can be accessed through the Windows Control panel.

The task LibreOffice is referring to seems to be the recovery of a document after an unexpected and improper shutdown of LibreOffice.

I can not find any reference to a temp file...

What shall I do?

Thank you for your help.

Please provide your operating system, version of LO, and whether you are using 32bit or 64bit Java. Also have a look at these other related threads for possible solutions.
