Where can I find a pack of fonts to install into L0?

I need the fonts to be Open Source and royalty /copyright free and free for commercial use. (Fonts are often copyrighted or only free for personal rather than commercial use. Can anyone recommend a download? I seem to have a very limited range of fonts. I am not even sure where some of them went as I am sure I had Tinos font a month ago! I feel like all the fonts have run away! I know the places where I could install individual fonts so am not asking for links to them.

Is there a place where I can download packs of fonts rather than installing individually. I may do that for some, but do not currently have the usual set installed with LO. (I have Calrlita, Liberation, Caldea Deja Vu and Biolineum. This is boring and limited.) I am getting bored and would like a lot more fonts to use. Surely there is a pack that usually gets installed with LO?

LO5 on Chromebook (but surely any font would install?)

Note that fonts are always installed on the system, so strictly speaking this is not a a LibreOffice issue!

It’s possible to find font “packs” on the internet, but I’m suspicious of all of them: the only way you can be sure of the font license is to check what the font author says, so sorry, if you need to be sure that they are FLOSS fonts, you need to download and install them one by one.

Linux distros provide lots of open source fonts on their repositories, but I don’t have experience on Chromebooks: you’ll need to check its documentation.

For where to find FLOSS fonts, the Font Library is a good point to start, but many of the best FLOSS fonts are missing there. Most font projects I know are hosted on GitHub, but not all. I reviewed what I consider some of the best open source fonts in my personal blog, but be aware that I’m biased towards old style typefaces :wink:

I will have a look at your blog. Interesting to know fonts install into a system not just into LO as someone like me would assume I would only get it into LO - hence the question. I never think about fonts elsewhere. Nor have I seen the term “FLOSS” before. I will have a look at your blog as I believe when writing, the font should fit the genre. (Hence the desire for extra fonts.) I would guess Chromebooks are going to work well with Google fonts and so am going to assume you can use them with LO.

@RGB-es : interesting blog. Thanks!
