Deinstallation Removing Files?

If I delete the present version of Libre Office to update to the latest version, will I lose all my speadsheets/files Etc. I can’t seem to update to the latest version, so I thought clean Install might work

I am having a problem updating to the latest version, I thought If I deleted the old version, It might install easier, but I don’t want to lose my spreadsheets

This seems to be a follow on to Unable to update and thus you’d like to get that solveld by telling us a bit more about your OS, LibreOffice version you tried to install, any error messages occuring etc. Asking a question providing as much information as possible would improve the chance for a good answer.

Hello,

No you won’t lose your saved files, if you delete LibreOffice from your system, but you won’t be able to open 'em.

Uninstalling LibreOffice will not delete anything you created. But still physically take backup of all of your files to a separate place to be on the safe side.

Unless your spreadsheets and other documents are stored in the LO directory, go ahead. Files are usually saved in the Documents/ or My Documents/ directory (depending on OS). You may also have saved them somewhere else.

If you’re under Windows, merely deleting LO directory is not enough. Critical information is also kept in the Registry. So be sure to remove the application with the correct procedure.

Thanks for all your help/advice. I deleted the old version (6.1.0.3.) and installed the latest version and everything seems to be OK.
