Changed OO files to LibreOffice files

I have been using OO for some time now and still had Libre Office 3 on my hard disk. OO started giving me problems so I came to this place and downloaded LibreOffice 4. Now, my question is, when I downloaded, it did not convert all my OO word files to LO. How do I do that.

Which OS are you using?

What exactly did you do to convert OO word (=Text???) files to LO?

I’m using Vista and the problem is that I HAVEN’T converted the files - and those I did don’t seem to hold the OL part! I took a couple of OO files and cut and pasted them to an OL text files. Then, when I went to open them, they showed OO! Should I remove OO from my computer? Will that convert all the OO files to LO?

What file extension do your OO files use? LibreOffice and OpenOffice use the same OpenDocument file format, unless you have quite old OO files, in which case the OO files may use different extensions. Unless you are using this old format there is no need to “convert” your files.

My OO files show OpenDocumentText.

@lvcabbie - Here is what I would try:
-right click on you OO file
-select “open with” → LibO Writer => the file should open in LibO Writer (if you have the chance to check "open/use always with this application, I would check this option)
for saving the file

  • click File → Save AS here the default should be odt-format (recommened) but you also can choose other formats.

In above I assumed that Ol = LibO.

If your issue is not solved yet, I recommend to inform on the extensions of the file name.
