How can I change the x-axis format on an imported excel chart?

I have imported a spreadsheet (including a chart) from my windows version of excel, into my mac version of libreoffice (calc). Everything is fine, except that the x-axis format of the chart. In excel, it was setup to have the x-axis in date units. Whenever I access the chart in libreoffice, the x-axis is in a numerical format (probably a date conversion into numerics). When I edit the x-axis, I uncheck the “source format” button. This temporarily fixes the problem. When I re-open the spreadsheet, the chart once again has the x-axis in numeric terms. The “source format” button is once again checked. How do I permanently keep the “source format” button unchecked? It’s important to me to have the x-axis in date format for this chart. Is this fixable?

This sounds like a bug. Should you not get a better answer, please file a bug report under: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/

As a workaround I would create the chart new in Calc; this could be the fastest way.
