Opening 1900 pages DOC

Hi,

I have recently imported document http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/25_series/25.331/25331-a70.zip to Writer.
It took about 90 minutes! Do we know what took so long? I thing it should not take so much time. Is there any way to optimize it? Did anybody tried? What language is DOC import written in?
I noticed soffice.bin process RES memory was about 150MB during import, maybe more RAM may be utilized in exchange for CPU time?

I exported it to PDF (BTW, the only reasonable format for such documents, I think). Export to PDF took, say, about 20-30 minutes. The numbers are rough, just to give you the order of the time span we are dealing with.

Export to ODT | opening ODT was comparably very fast 1-2 minutes, roughly.

Thanks in advance!

I think the problem here could be that the document was saved in Normal view (which LO doesn’t have). If you open the document in MS Word it is almost immediate. But change to View, Print Layout and see how long that takes to repaginate

You could change the amount of RAM used by LO (under Tools, Options, LibreOffice, Memory) to a maximum of 256MB but in my case that didn’t help at all…
