My libreoffice word document disappeared/vanished/is lost

I was working on a document and I saved it into a folder two days ago. When I tried to open it today, it wasn’t in the folder. I did the following things:

-I checked the recycling bin.

-I searched for the file’s name in the computer.

-I checked the recent files part on Libreoffice.

-I looked at the backups folder of Libreoffice.

-I looked around in the Temp folder.

And yet I couldn’t find anything. I’m close to giving up, but do you have any thoughts on where it might have gone?

Do you have a backup program running and did you also check there? If you have your files synced to Google Drive, see if it’s in the Trash. https://drive.google.com/drive/trash

This sounds like something you’d be better off asking in a Windows help forum. I mean, if it’s not even showing up in a system wide search for the filename, it honestly sounds like a bigger issue than can be fixed in an LO help group.

How you save a document can often have unexpected consequences.

You called it a “libreoffice word document”. Does that mean that you saved it as .doc or .docx instead of in the native format for LibreOffice (.odt)?

Please describe how exactly you saved your document? By using Save As, or simply Save, or … ?

Please either Edit your original question (preferred) or use Comment to provide additional information.

If you cannot repeat what happened then it is most likely user error. So try to repeat the steps you say you went through and see if the file is lost, again!

If redoing the procedure gives the desired result then I offer this hypofyses:
You might have accidentally hit Cancel instead of Save, closed the application and clicked away the dialog warning you that you had unsaved work…
