freeze after tools > options is selected

Libreoffice writer freezes after I clicks Tools > options …

  • I tried reinstalling after purge ( apt-get purge libreoffice-*).
  • I moved the .config/libreoffice directory.
  • I installed all themes (apt-get install libreoffice-style*)

The strange thing is that as an other user I can open tools > options …

Same issue here LibreOffice 7.5 on Windows, as of 7 February 2023. Options used to work when I installed it.

Under Windows, a “cold” reboot is frequently necessary to complete the upgrade/installation. By “cold” reboot, I mean a total reboot, not merely an hibernate-awake cycle.

Maybe the “purge” is not cleaning everything. Try the following: after uninstalling and purging, open a terminal and issue the following command

whereis libreoffice

If the command return some directories/files, manually delete them (you’ll need admin rights) and only then try to reinstall.

whereis does not show any configuration files even before I purge it. The likely reason is some user-based config file that is not in .config/libreoffice (tried that) but somewhere else.

That’s strange. All config files are in ~/.config/libreoffice. Can you restart in safe mode (Help → Restart in safe mode)?
