I want to scan . . . I don't remember having this problem before

I want to scan using the flat bed scanner a top of my Kodack Verite’ 55 printer.
I have done this many, many times.
When I go to “Insert” and pull down to “Image” I do not have the option of “Scanner”.
I has a list of all my files to chose from.
I want to “Scan” a New Image.
I don’t remember having this problem before.
Even if I cheat and use Microsoft/Accessories/Paint I can import (or copy/paste) from the Paint program to Libre, but it distorts the image.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
(I am trying to scan in photos of our house/property so we can be approved to store our 1964 Aristocrat Travel Trailer.
Thank you in advance ;o)
Have a great day!

Scanning

If a scanner is connected to your computer, Writer can call the scanning application and insert the
scanned item into your document as an image. To start this procedure, click where you want the
image to be inserted and choose Insert > Media > Scan > Select Source.
Select the scan source from the list of available devices, then choose Insert > Media > Scan >
Request to open the imaging software where you can adjust settings for picture quality, size, and
other attributes. This practice is quick and easy, but may not result in a high-quality image of the
correct size. You may get better results by scanning material into a graphics program and cleaning
it up there before inserting the resulting image into Writer.

Tip

Ensure the scanner is properly setup and working or else it will not function in LibreOffice.

As for inserted images becoming distorted. Sounds like you got the width to height proportions modified which causes either compression or stretching of the image.

@lazarus477: it’s probably better to use latest version of help: the old help system (that you referenced in your answer) was discontinued since 6.0; the latest version of the cited page is Inserting a Scanned Image.

The new page will show different content on different OSes: for Windows, it will show “TWAIN” instead of “SANE”.
