I have six subdocuments in a master document that are perfectly centered exactly where I want them. When I update the master document and export to PDF, all of the images have shifted approximately 0.5" to the right, extending over the page margin. I have checked the graphics style in the master document and can’t find any reason that this should happen.

Did you use styles?
If more than one subdocument uses the same styles with the same name (for example, MyBasic), then only the style from first subdocument is included in the master document.
If a style sheet with the same name exists in the master document and subdocuments (for example, Standard), the settings specified in the master document are applied.

Supposedly, “only the style definition from the first subdocument is included…”? Because the content of all other subdocuments is still included, correct?
Style names that exist in only one document are also valid in the master, so yes. The content anyway.

I have used paragraph styles throughout the master document, both on the subdocuments and in the master document.
I’m not sure if I used a style to format the images. I inserted them and captioned them and I anchored them as a character. They look fine in my subdocument by aren’t positioned properly in the master document.
I don’t know what other rules I should have followed.

Where are the pictures anchored?

The pictures are anchored in one subdocument (a chapter) as a character. There are three of them. They are aligned and centered, which is how I want them. In the master document, they extend over the right margin approximiately 0.5". I cannot find any reason they should do this.
If anyone would be willing to Zoom or Skype to help me fix this, please let me know. I’m getting down to the final hours before this document needs to be submitted and it cannot be submitted until this issue is fixed.

People! I fixed it! The author of this document formatted EVERYTHING with Normal style, with a 0.5" indent. I don’t know how they managed to format an IMAGE in this style (maybe because they anchored the images to characters?), but I removed the 0.5" indent on the Normal style in the master document and now it’s all better.
