Is it possible to change font type on just a portion of the text?
It lets me go thru the motions of editing, but doesn’t show the change.

AFAIK, you cannot use FontWork that way: while nice for small works, it’s a rather limited tool. But if you want to spend some time you can do the following: In Draw, set your text as you want (font and sizes) inside a text box, then right click over it and Convert → To curve, finally, use the deformation tools to modify the resulting curve as you need.
Note that you’ll not be able to modify the text afterwards!
