Adding a block of color over my corrected document

Started this week. I do proof reading and after I have done the document and saved it, I do not see the blocks of color. It is only when I save it and reopen it that I see something I did not put there. A faint block of color that covers a few paragraphs and makes my comments and notes difficult to see. When I try to copy the paragraphs to paste here it takes out all my comments and the colors over the paragraphs. I have to keep the name of the client in the document hidden so I am not sure how to provide you with a screen shot that doesn’t show the client’s name. I ask that you keep this document private. I have a screen shot saved and ready to show but don’t see a way to attach it here to my question.
Thank you.

What OS and LibreOffice-Version do you use?

Do you use Edit>Track Changes>Record to display corrections in the text itself?

yes I display corrections that way. I have two problems- I save the document and then send it back to the office that needs it. The office tells me that some of the comments come back out of order. So I need to have the comments appear on their document when they open it, to work in the same place that I put the comment. And secondly, the program takes a block of text and randomly colors it in. I don’t highlight and change the color on random blocks of text, but that is what they see when they open it up. So the block of color obscures the link to the comment.

I use Microsoft OS and the LibreOffice is Version: 4.4.2.2

Is the file saved as .doc(x) or .odt? Do they use LO or M$ Word?

@barb2512, then I would first of all install a current LibreOffice version, e.g. 6.2.6.
