how to remove extra pages?

Without feedback from you, here is some general information.
Pages don’t exist per se in Writer. They are allocated on demand to host text. They are similar to bags or packaging needed to carry stuff: you take only the bags necessary to contain what you’ve bought.
Just like adding pages is a consequence of adding text, removing pages is done by removing contents.
Newcomers to text processing have a bad habit with regard to vertical spacing done with empty paragraphs. Empty paragraphs are difficult to see on-screen because they are … empty. To circumvent that, View>Formatting Marks. Writer then shows on-screen various symbols like paragraph marks, new lines, tabs, etc.
Erase your empty paragraphs.
