Does LO have a more attractive icon to put on the desk top.
When you open LO a nice colored icon is shown for a second or so.
I think that it would be a good idea to use that as an icon for the desk top, to click on when you start the program.

You did not mention your OS. E.g. in Windows Icon images can be part of the according .exe file. Linux and MAC probably handle this different. Currently there is only one Icon in each corresponding .exe under Windows. You could create your own Icons and assign them with Explorer to the link. As said, option is only valid for Windows. Don’t know, how this is handled on Linux or MAC. Or you could file a feature request.
@Cookievore, the process is similar for all OSes/DEs: File Properties > click the file’s icon and choose from the file manager list. macOS: Get Info on the source file and target file and copy the icon from source to target.
