File is part of the libreoffice base package. So the whole thing sounds like an incomplete installation of LibreOffice. Which Linux distribution and version are you using?

The fact that there is /usr/lib/.. instead of /usr/lib64/... raises the question of bitness (32-bit or 64-bit) of your Linux installation (but without knowing your distribution, I cannot tell the command (rpm, dpkg, apt, pacmann ...) to find out the LibreOffice version installed. May be that only the link on your desktop is deprecated and you need to create a new one.

Sorry Opaque, I was a little vague, I am using Kubuntu 18.4 bionic and the Ubuntu ppa version of LibreOffice is 1:6.0.7. Anyway I have now sorted it, I purged it from my system including the .config file and decided to install the community version 6.2 so downloaded the deb file and it works a treat now. Anyways thanks for the quick reply
