Note also that it does not remove LO v4.0.

libreoffice4.1-debian-menus_4.1.0-4_all.deb is now in the main DEBS directory.

All the icons were created properly in my xubuntu 13.04 "Mouse->Office" menu, and v4.1 Calc fired up properly.

Further details about this change (between v4.0 and v4.1) can be found in this LO Dev mailing list thread: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LO-4-1-0-debian-desktop-integration-package-td4065951.html

@oweng your link does not work, it contains some html code at the end!

@VS, yes, sorry. There has been a problem with the link handler in the Askbot engine of the site since the upgrade to v0.7.48 on 4 July. I can't edit the comment anymore as there is only a 10 minute window of opportunity for doing so. You will have to copy the link and remove the tag from the end for the time being.

Under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (64 bit) and 4.1.0.4 version of Libreoffice, the icons were not all there in the unity dashboard. I was able to restore them all by using the Main Menu application and selecting the missing icons under "Office" and rebooting. All is well now. :)

I do not understand this answer. Nor the LO Dev link. How do I get desktop integration back? I installed everything in the DEBS directory (which does have the menus supposedly), but there are no desktop links at all. How do I get them back onto the left-hand bar?

Which distribution and version are you using? If you are still unable to obtain the menu entries after installing all files in the `DEBS/` directory then you may either still have a stub from a prior installation installed or be experiencing a bug.

I have Ubuntu 13.04. I removed the old apps from the application manager. How do I remove the old stubs? The instructions in the README file are definitely wrong and need to be fixed. Thanks for the help.

I am having the same problem i.e.No desktop integration. I just (yesterday) download the version from the LO site 4.1.0.4

I tried sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoremove and reinstalled the new package, and still no icons. I dids notice that although the packages are: LibreOffice_4.1.0.4_Linux_x86-64_deb and LibreOffice_4.1.0.4_Linux_x86-64_deb_helppack_en-US, the things inside are all amd64.

@jarome, amd64 = x86_64 as Intel lost that particular bitwise contest. If you are running Ubuntu then you will need to install from the PPA to obtain desktop integration: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/20665/how-to-update-lo-to-41-in-ubuntu/@dogluvver, what distribution are you running?

oweng gravatar imageoweng ( 2013-07-30 02:11:11 +0200 )edit

I updated the repository and used the PPA and still get no icons for LibreOffice in Ubuntu 13.04.

I just noticed this permissions bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67441 Please ensure that your installed files have the correct permission (root:root). This issue does not seem to be affecting me here, but then again I run a very basic desktop or may have simply been lucky the permissions did not collide with existing definitions.

oweng gravatar imageoweng ( 2013-07-31 06:16:13 +0200 )edit

Actually, it now appears that https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67441 is a duplicate of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67388 which has been fixed for v4.1.1.
