My problem is that my TOP “title line” ie: Author, Name, Good, Bad, etc. always moves from top line. Please help, I am used to Microsoft Works and I sort by alphabet quite often.
Cannot get top row to stay when trying to sort alphabetically

Edited to keep title short. Moved to actual question.
Is this about data kept in a spreadsheet (Calc document)?
If so, please replace the tag “common” with “calc”.
I’m sorry, I am new to this. I clicked on “calc” 4 times and it would go back and ask the same question, it would not post. That is why I clicked on common
What exactly are you doing to start the sort process? If you click on the first row and column of the data that you want to sort, not including the top (title?) line, then click on Data → Sort Ascending (for example), the sort should start there. The top line will not be included.
I highlited the whole page except top row and it didn’t work. After reading your comment I highlited only Authors row, then clicked sort ascending and it worked. I thank you so very much. You saved me a lot of time
Hello @Mamma
Option 1. Go to Data -> Sort
menu option. Under sort tab apply the criteria needed and under Options
tab select Range contains column labels
option.
Option 2. Use AutoFilter
. Click on cell anywhere inside your data range. Go to Data -> AutoFilter
menu option. A square with arrow down will appear in every cell within header row. Click on the box and select sort direction.
