Help Pack 6.2.7 installation error messages

Hello, all.

I’ve successfully installed LibreOffice 6.2.7 after first uninstalling my previous version of L.O. and its accompanying Help Pack.

However, I’m having trouble installing the new 6.2.7 Help Pack. Windows 10 throws up two error messages:

I uninstalled the older version of L.O. and its Help Pack in the correct order, and rebooted Windows after uninstalling each component.

I also rebooted after installing LibreOffice 6.2.7. That’s as far as I got before running into trouble with the new Help Pack.

Kind thanks for any help you can give me.

Can this help?

Hello,

most probably you face a Windows installer cache problem. To install the new version of the helppack (Version 6.2.7) the Installer needs to unsinstall the old version first and this fails. To fix the issue:

  1. Download the old versions MSI Package from here: https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/6.0.7.3/win/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.0.7.3_Win_x64_helppack_en-US.msi
  2. Copy the file to the path mentioned in the first error message: C:\Users\My-Doc\Desktop\LibreOffice 6.0.7.3 x64\LibreOffice 6.0.7.3 x64 HELP PACK\ (this is an information stored in the Windows registry and points to the place from where you originally installed the current (old) version.
  3. Rename the file to LibreOffice_6.0.7_Win_x64_helppack_en-US.msi (leaving off the 4. digit - important step)
  4. Start the install of new helppack (6.2.7) again.

This should work now.

Not sure why my other posted responses disappeared, but…

ISSUE RESOLVED.

Figuring I had nothing to lose, I tried uninstalling LibreOffice using Windows’ own “Add and remove programs,” and BINGO: Help Pack issue resolved. The latest version of L.O. installed without a hitch. (Previously, I had used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall L.O. and maybe that was the problem.)

Again, my great thanks to the forum regulars who jumped in to help me. All the best to you!
