I have a text box in a header which I can't remove?!

So frustrated! Been trying for hours to remove a text box which is somehow ‘hiding’ inside a header in a writer document. It’s invisible in the actual document, but then when I PDF it, it shows up on the PDF. Very strange!

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Not much technical information in your description! Please edit your question for OS and LO version. Have you tried the Navigator (compass icon on the right side of the window)? Does it show any objects in Text frames, OLE objects or Drawing objects categories? Have you images anchored in header, footer or page? Do you use styles, notably page styles?

If your file is small, attach it to your question (with the paper click tool icon when in question edit mode).

My friend, you deserve some sort of medal! You are quite right—when I opened the navigator, I was able to locate the offending text box under drawing objects and delete it. Can’t tell you what a relief that was—thanks!

When you can’t tell exactly where an item is located, open the Navigator (press the small compass icon at the right side of the window). The navigator shows all “objects” sorted by categories.

In your case, the “lost” object may be in Text frames, OLE objects or Drawing objects.

Double clicking on a name selects the object and scroll the view on it. It is now selected. A contextual menu pops up when you right-click the selection.
