Set font size to auto (writer Forms)

Hey,
I want to set the font size of the text input fields of my Libreoffice writer forms to “Auto”. The main reason why I need this font size is that I want to export the form to a PDF form. If the font size is not set to “Auto” the input fields truncate the text when the length of the text exceeds the width of the input field. If the font size is set to Auto the text shrinks inside the input field and it’s not truncated. At the moment I use a workaround (I export the odt form to PDF and then use Acrobat Pro XI to set the font size of all form fields to auto) but there must or at least should be a simple way to do the same thing with Libreoffice writer.

Thank you in advance!

The font size on Auto is unfortunately not. Personally, I don’t think it makes sense either. If someone writes a lot into the form field, the font will be small and unreadable.

There is a good alternative.

Right-click on the form field and select Control Properties .... In the dialog box “Properties: Text Box” you can set the following: “Text type” = Multi-line and for “Scrollbars” = Vertical.

You can now scroll in the form field and it is easy to read.

With me Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.3.2.2 (x64).

Hi,
Thank you for the great answer. Scrollbars are a great alternative for digital forms but my form must also be printable. I noticed the text is truncated on printed copies :frowning:

Kind regards!
