is the latest version compatible with Mac OS Catalina 10.15

I currently use a 32 bit version of Libre Office with my Mac. I’ve got an update to the above version and have been advised my current version of Libre Office will not function. Which version Libre Office do I require? Will existing files be upgraded once a new version of Libre Office is installed.

Hello,

latest releases of LibreOffice are 64-bit and thus will run on Mac OS X 10.15 (Catalina). Just go to Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft and select the version you want (either 6.3.2 or 6.2.7).

Files don’t need an upgrade (File format doesn’t depend on bitness of the application)

And one more hint: Search this site for “Catalina”, since there is a problem to start LibreOffice due to verification issue, but there are solutions for the issue

Thanks for your help

TDF Blog, LibreOffice and macOS Catalina

The 32bit will indeed not run on Catalina. Current releases of LibreOffice, be it LO6282 or LO6322 or LibreOfficeVanilla from the AppStore will run on Catalina. There are issues with the Apple verification process which can be worked around. There are also other issues that appear specific to Catalina, for example, using “Saving as” from within LO on Catalina, and display of localized font names (or lack thereof). Others will no doubt arise as more people migrate to Catalina.

Thanks. I have successfully installed new version of Libra Office.
