Can I install Libre office on 8GB 1TB H computer?

I bought a new computer upgrade to Windows 10. Old computer had windows 7 and Microsoft word on it when purchased. New computer had word. My documents transferred. I can print but cannot edit anything. I am just not sure how to tell if I can install. Do not understand computer terms. Thanks

Yes, you can install LibreOffice. Open Microsoft Store and find LibreOffice there, or download an installer from the libreoffice.org site. (If your computer has the 10-S version of Windows, only Microsoft Store apps are allowed. Downloaded installers will be rejected.)

Writer is the LibreOffice equivalent to MS Word. There will be slight differences in the documents if you have written them in Word and now open in LibreOffice Writer, but all comes out nicely in most cases.

You would probably need to pay to enable editing in Word. Preinstalled software is usually a trial version, either time limited or with some functions disabled. If you find that you really need to use Word, that application will also be available in Microsoft Store.
