Writer Paragraph Spacing

I currently have the latest version of LibreOffice. I’m working with Writer and I’m having trouble with paragraph spacing. I’ve tried the “format/spacing” and I’m not getting consistent spacing. It would be nice if some of the tools for Writer were a little more easier to work. And so, can someone give me some information on how to maintain a consistent paragraph spacing? Thanks in advance.

Adjust spacing for the paragraph style in use, not by formatting paragraphs for spacing directly.

  • Menu item Styles - Edit style
  • Select tab Indents and spacing
  • Adjust the style settings to suit your needs
  • Ensure that all paragraphs of the same kind use the same paragraph style

To remove direct formatting for current selection, allowing the style settings to take effect, pick menu item Format - Clear direct formatting.

If you want the same paragraph spacing to be used with new documents you are creating, do not forget to save the default settings in your DEFAULT TEMPLATE.

Thanks for the help

You are welcome!

However, you posted that message in a pane reserved for proposed solutions.

Your verbose “Thanks” is appreciated, but the right place for it is in the comments to an answer (or you can post a “thanks to everyone” as a comment to your question, if that is what you mean to say).

Even more useful (and simpler to do):

  • if you think an answer was good, click the up arrow above the vote count for that answer. Bad? click the down arrow.
  • If an answer helped you to arrive at a solution for the issue, click the “check” bullet below the vote count.

This is better in several ways:

  • It helps other users with the same issue to search for a working solution.
  • It helps the helpers to filter out questions already solved.
  • It changes the helper’s stats, adjusting “karma” score and displays “badges” as tokens of achievement.
  • Motivating for the helper: “I am doing something good”
  • Useful for the user needing help: “Is this an experienced/trustworthy helper?”
