sytle repeated text writer

Hey Gang:

I have documents that have a repeated text reference as follows: “See Response in SECTION x.x above.”

Can a style be used to insert the quoted text line?

Thanks,
Rich Ramik

If your “x.x” is a section number, i.e. it is an automatic number assigned to a heading paragraph by the chapter numbering feature of LO, this reference can be automatically inserted. The heading will be identified as such if its paragraph is styled Heading n.

The insertion is not a style. A style only defines formatting attributes.

Where you want the “x.x”, Insert>Cross-reference, Cross-references tab. The Type is Headings* and select the target in the list. In Insert reference to, choose Chapter. Push Insert.

The “above” can also be automatically inserted (because the “x.x” may be a reference before or after the location due to editing). The word above/below is computed by Writer if you choose Above/Below in Insert reference to.

Possibly the whole thing with fields could be made an autotext?
