Best way to do auto replace

I have set up Microsoft Word so that when I type ‘a’ followed by pressing the F3 function key Microsoft Word automatically inserts ‘Australia’. What’s the best way to replicate this behaviour in LibreOffice Writer?

In LibreOffice Writer it is called AutoText

You should be able to use less than four letters, but you won’t be able to take advantage of the Display remainder of name as suggestion while typing AutoText option. Look at the default options under Tools | Autotext | Standard for examples.

Thanks. So far I find that I need to type four letters for a shortcut before pressing F3. Is that right?

@gabix: don’t punish newcomers with an immediate downvote. Usage of this site is not obvious. People are used to forums made of threads. Explain this is Q&A site and give them delay to correct their misuse. Your downvote nullifies the bonus for checking the correct answer and prevents accessing higher karma privileges.

Additionally, if the downvoted answer is removed before the downvote is cancelled, the -15 handicap will be definitively kept in the karma.

That is why there is a clearly worded link How to use the Ask site on the start page.
