Must I uninstall the older version before I can run the downloaded 4.1?

Each time I attempt to run the 4.1 download, I get a message box telling me to exit the 3.3 and Quickstarter 3.3, but I don’t have anything open.

Have you got quickstarter enabled? Options > Memory > Enable Systray Quickstarter. If so it will load on boot. You should deselect the option before trying to upgrade.
I seem to remember that you needed to uninstall LibreOffice before installing the next version up to 3.5 on windows system, but I would try the quickstarter option first. hope this helps.

There are instructions for installing multiple versions of LibO, so do ensure you’re following the correct procedure for your operating system.

It’s been a long while since I ran the 3.x series, but I think when I did move to 4.x, I uninstalled the version 3 I was running (3.6, maybe?) and started fresh. FWIW!

I don’t know if it it applies to your case as well but you can give it try.

When I upgraded from 3.6.6 to 4.0.3 I observed problems. Countermeasure: I uninstalled 3.6.6 before installing the 4.0.3 version. However I first saved my application data folder “3” and copied the trouble making parts over into “4” after installation of 4.0.3.

Upgrading to 4.0.4 and recently to 4.0.5 did not show any problems.
