Error code when trying to use dbase

I keep getting the following error message when trying to create tables in base:

The connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver was found for the URL ‘sdbc:embedded:firebird’

I’m using a MacBook Air with Catalina OS.

Is their a way to fix this?
Thanks,
Archtop

Hello,

Your question is a bit confusing. Main question states dbase and the error was regarding Firebird. Are you trying to create a database by importing a dbase file? Also what were you doing when you got the error? Yes, you were trying to create a table but was it using the design view or the Wizard?

Also what Specific version of LO are you using?

Hello,

Will provide an answer based upon the error presented.

Although the Firebird database with Base does not require Java, it is still necessary to have a proper Java installation if you are going to use the Wizards or Report Builder. As you are using Mac, this requires JDK installed.

Please see this post → Faq

Thank you to both responders.

I am using LibreOffice Vanilla by Collabora Productivity. The LibreOffice version is 6.2.6.2. I bought the product from Collabora Productivity through Apple Apps Store to specifically use BASE. I did this in order NOT to have to download extraneous files such as JDK, like I used to have to do when I was running Linux Mint on a different machine.

The error “The connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver was found for the URL 'sdbc:embedded:firebird.” occurs anytime I click the icons in the left panel of BASE and try to create something related to the icon. The icons are Tables, Query, Forms, and Reports. It happens in both the Design mode and Wizard mode.

I really didn’t want to load another file but if I have to then can you please tell me where to get JDK or any other file you recommend?

Thank you.

Hello,

First, please do not use an answer unless it actually answers the original question. Instead either edit your question or use add a comment.

There was only one who responded - same person in comment and answer.

The link to get the JDK was already provided. It is in the referred to Faq posted in my answer. Click on the linked Faq in my answer.
