How can I change the inside Text Box Text Location?

Apologies . . . hard to concisely word title.

I’m in the Impress Presentation module. I have many text boxes. Trying to figure out how to nudge the inside text from left and right away from the lines of the box.

Found the:

  • Edit
  • Styles
  • Text Tab
  • Spacing to borders
  • Anchor

Changed the left and right borders to make them bigger. Didn’t do anything.
Changed the left and right borders to make them bigger, and chose the center in the Anchor. Didn’t do anything either.

Anything I missed?

Thanks

Different paragraphs inside a textbox can be aligned differently.

Select a position inside the text (one of the text paragraphs entered into the box) and use >Format>Paragraph>Alignment then.

I would suggest you select Text Formatting toolbar under >View>Toolbars... to have the functionality easily at hand.

Thanks a bunch “Lupp”! It did work, but now I have a new problem associated with this change.

Whenever I add or subtract space left/right within the box . . . the box changes size. I have all the text boxes aligned Left. The inner space change unaligns it,Since, I don’t want to keep fiddling with the size of the box . . . do you know of a way to lock the box size?

Much obliged for your assistance.

Tks Again

May your “text box” actually be a TextFrame?
Then it may have AutoSize enabled for its width.

There are already two very different things both named Text Box for the UI: The Shape from the Drawing ToolBar made for displaying simple text, and a FormControl from the respective toolbar…
In addition some users occasionally also call a TextFrame this way because it looks similar to them. However, a TextFrame is completely different and can contain text of the same complexity as the TextDocument itself.

Select the text boxes, choose menu Format - Paragraph… - Indent & Spacing tab, and adjust indent Before text: and After text: values.

Select one by one the text boxes, press F4, uncheck Fit width to text, OK.
