Change the colour of an imported vector image like SVG

When imported a vector image like SVG onto the document, how can I change its colour? For example, there are freely downloadable SVG vector shapes on the Internet. The shapes are either black or white because colour is not an important part., But when we actually use those shapes, we would want a different colour for the imported shape, something like blue or red.

The “Fill Colour” button does not seem to work. All I could find is the “Colour mode” properties, but it has three percentage input boxes for each of the RGB components, not a colour picker. I could use another application to find the RGB values of the colour I want and then calculate the percentage and then type those three values in Draw, but that is stupid and inconvenient. Why isn’t there a simple option to change the colour of an imported object?
