Writer 6.3 doesn't restore cursor location?

On my Ubuntu 18.04 desktop, Writer 6.0.7.3 opens a document with the text cursor where it was when the document was saved. On my laptop, with Ubuntu 19.10, Writer 6.3.3.2 always positions the cursor at the beginning of the document. Is there a configuration setting that I’m overlooking to restore the old behavior?

See “Cursor Position” in this help topic.

Thank you - I hadn’t yet set my name in User Data; it works like the LibreOffice I know and love again!

The “Cursor Position” help topic suggestion does not work if the files are .doc or .docx files.

Yes, generally you can only expect full functionality with native file formats (any external format support is unavoidably not ideal - be it because of unfinished work, or because of fundamental differences); and there’s tdf#112740 for docx.
