I was hoping to generate some simple HD-sized stills (1920 x 1080) to stick in an online video. They’re basically just text and I might stick in a small monochrome bitmap file as a logo. I sort of thought I could just put some text in Impress and export the individual foils to avoid complexity but it looks as if the largest images you can export from Impress are 1024 x 768 and that’s only if they’re as part of an HTML file. I definitely don’t want to have to make some complex drawings and have to “crop” them to exact size or something. Drawing graphics is definitely a weak spot in my skillset; it strikes me if I knew what I was doing, generating these wouldn’t take more than a few minutes each just like doing foils in Impress although I’m in no way “wedded” to this tool (or that this needs to be done in Libre either but like I say it seems like it’s probably in here SOMEWHERE). Should I be looking for a task-specific tool outside Libre to do this? Any ideas?
If you insist on doing titles for your video in an office suite instead of a dedicated graphics program…
…use LO Draw.
Create you titles and whatnot in Draw, save, then export to a format your video editing program can use (png? tiff?) and in the Export settings set the size to 1920x1080, 72dpi, and you’re set. Cheers!
Hey it looks as if I may have killed two birds here. Found something called “OpenShot Video Editor”, I hadn’t settled on one yet but what interested me was it had built-in a simple title editor which looked as if it might have enough capability. But I dug a little deeper and it also has an “advanced editor” button which CAN bring up Inkscape (also free) if you happen to have it installed. But it doesn’t just call it, it sets the image size correctly for the video size you’re editing. Could have just used this for titling but turns out the video editor is better than what I was thinking of too!
