Hi. I downloaded the “legacy backgrounds” extension to LibreOffice Writer but I cannot get it to work. It is installed and I can see the backgrounds in the gallery but when I try to apply them to the page, there is a square of blue instead of the background, I wanted to apply. I also updated my java but it did not make any difference. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

You mean the page background, right?
You don’t need an extension for this in the new LibreOffice version.

You can directly create the background of the page in color, as a gradient or with an image.
Open Writer. Choose Format>Page from the menu. In the dialog box “Page template” you can choose between color, gradient, image, pattern and hatching.
