OCR in Libre Office

Is there a way to use OCR in LIbre Office? I can scan a document and save as a jpeg or pdf. I want that OCR’d

Workaround

.

@athegn You have to use a 3rd party product. My recommendation is www.pdf24.org - either you install the apps and readout locally or you upload to pdf24.org-OCR and after some time you will have a more or less satisfactory result.

.

Or send a feature request to Bugzilla.link text

Hello,

the answer is: No

Thank you.

Used Simple OCR for this one document. May need better as now expected t to be asked to do a lot more.

This is not an answer but a follow-on comment. Please move it where it belongs (add a comment) and delete it.

FreeOCR works fine
http://www.paperfile.net/download.html

Also, If you use Google Drive you can upload a jepeg or or pdf and then right click it and choose “open as a google document”.

Dive will use OCR to convert it to an editable Google Doc.

Both are free.

At this time, there is no OCR intregrated in LibreOffice. So you need to install a OCR-Software first.

It may then be possible to start this via macro. See this older thread (the external OCR is tesseract):

It would be useful to know your Operating System (Windows, Linux-distro, Mac) as some solutions may not work on Snapstore-Installations etc.
