newest version of Windows 10 won't let me use Libre Office as default program to open documents

have a new computer with the latest version of Windows 10. I deleted the Windows office trial (of course) and installed Libre Offce which I have been using for several years. I can open all my documents from inside the programs but I can’t set them as default - Windows says it’s not installed and they want me to pay to “buy” it from their app store.

In Windows 10 you can set the default with which program a file should be opened. Please refer
Open file with LibreOffice

latest version of Windows 10

Which version? Did you do all the updates?

… and installed Libre Offce …

What version and from where did you download it?

Windows says it’s not installed and they want me to pay to “buy” it from their app store.

What is not installed and what should you buy?

Download LibreOffice only from here: Download / Download LibreOffice

Throw out that Microsoft trash, install an open-source operating system like Linux or BSD and be happy.

And read this.

I installed LibreOffice from the above link and it included an option to make its components the default ones for Windows 10. The program also installed itself in the default programs directory and appears now in explorer which did not happen before. I thought I had gone to the official site to download it for my new computer, but the version I had was 4.2 so I must have been mistaken. So thank you for the new link.
