Image compression issues when exporting pages with PDF backgrounds

Hi,

There’s a compression issue when exporting LibreOffice files.

If PDFs are added manually as backgrounds to each page using Insert - Image and then Anchor to page, the exported PDF looks great, with no compression.

If you set up any PDF as a background image under Page Style - Area - Bitmap, when exporting, the vectors are compressed to images and degraded.

How do I disable this compression using the second option?

Thank you!

lisali,

Try to check Lossless compression, in FileExport as...Export as PDF...Generaltab.

Another option is to check Reduce image resolution to 300 DPI (or more), in FileExport as...Export as PDF...Generaltab.

If this answer did solve your problem, please click the gray circle whit the white checkmark to the left of this answer.

I did try that. It does not work - the exported PDF is treated as an image, instead of as a native PDF file. The odd thing is that if using “Insert - Image and then Anchor to page”, the exported PDF looks great, but this option causes a lot of editing issues.

You said: “a lot of editing issues”. Yes, particularly trying to select text or change cursor position with the mouse.
A “not the best solution” could be to add the background just before exporting.
